10 Reasons to choose a local fitted kitchen supplier
Kitchenroom is an independent kitchen supplier based in Didcot, in Oxfordshire. We design, supply and fit kitchens to customers all over Oxfordshire and Berkshire and are proud to describe ourselves as a local company. We believe that as a local kitchen supplier we are able to offer our customers a number of advantages and benefits that simply aren’t available or possible when working with a national company.
If you’re currently debating who to approach to design your new kitchen, allow us to share a few points you may want to consider in your search for your new fitted kitchen supplier.
10 reasons to use a local supplier for your new fitted kitchen
1. Free, no obligation home kitchen design visit
You may think that getting a design of your brand new kitchen is fundamental when starting a new kitchen installation, and we’d agree with you, but they are actually trickier than you might think to obtain from some of the national kitchen companies. Most large kitchen suppliers no longer offer to visit your home, instead asking you to measure up yourself and design your kitchen with them in branch. That is all well and good if your kitchen is simply going to be a like for like replacement, but measuring up can be much more tricky if you are thinking about taking down walls or doing anything more structural. What’s more, some companies may ask you to pay for your new design – a cost which is only refunded if you place an order with them.
Our home design service is completely free of charge. We will carry out at least one visit to your home (more if required), will do all the measuring up for you and will provide you with a state of the art Kitchen design of your beautiful new kitchen.
2. We aim to understand your taste, your home and your lifestyle
One of the reasons we like to visit your home before designing your kitchen is to get a proper sense of the space we are designing for. Scribbled dimensions and measurements on a piece of paper can only help you to design a kitchen in theory. It is only by seeing a room and understanding the space and flow of light that you can create a kitchen design that really works in and complements the environment. By visiting you in your home we can also get a good idea of your lifestyle and how you and your family use your kitchen. Ideas for wine fridges, super-sized breakfast bars and even space for a dog bed have all been drawn up over a cup of tea chatting about kitchens!
It is important to note that during the COVID-19 pandemic we are still carrying out home design visits, but in a Covid secure way, for your safety and ours.
3. We are very competitive price
One of the advantages of being a smaller, local kitchen company is that we don’t carry the same large overheads as some of the national suppliers. We don’t need showrooms or salespeople and most of our marketing is done through word of mouth, which helps us to keep our costs, and therefore our prices, low. Many of our customers are often surprised at how well our prices compare to larger companies. We do however understand that you want to see what you are buying, or considering buying before committing to it, which is why we carry a large number of sample doors, worktops and other fixtures. If we don’t have the colour or exact style you are looking at, we are always happy to order it in for you so you can be completely certain of your choice.
4. We manage all aspects of production to ensure quality
We are a one-stop shop for kitchen supply, which means we oversee everything from design, to production, to fitting if required. Your kitchen will be quality checked twice; once with the door manufacturer, and again when the doors are fitted at the cabinet manufacturer, so if something does not meet our high standards we will know about it before it is delivered to you. We have direct contacts with each supplier so we can get access to information quickly when we need to and resolve problems speedily if they arise, reducing the risk of any nasty surprises for you come delivery day.
5. We pride ourselves on only stocking high quality kitchens
A good kitchen should last you at least 10-15 years and we are very particular about our suppliers and the quality of the ranges we carry. All our units are built pre-assembled, so they are solid and professionally constructed and come with a 25 year guarantee. All our doors are either MDF or solid wood and come with a 10 or 7 year guarantee respectively.
We do not stock vinyl wrap kitchens as we do not believe these stand the test of time, or adequately withstand the normal use of a family kitchen. All our cabinets and doors are quality checked twice before it reaches you (see point 4) and if it doesn’t meet our high standards it gets replaced, simple!
6. We are always available to call in and happy to help
As a local kitchen company we are never too far away, which means we’re happy to stop by whenever you need us. Want to discuss a new design idea? We’ll come over and discuss it with you in person. Not totally sure if the sample you have is the right colour? We’ll get you some more and leave them with you until you’re happy.
The benefit of being local is we can call in whenever you need our help or opinion on something. We’ve even been known to drop in with specialist tools to help make your fitter’s life easier. Just call and we’ll be there!
7. Our fitters are local and always on hand
We work with a number of kitchen fitters in Oxfordshire and Berkshire who are all local to the area, so if you need someone to pop by to take a look at something, or make an adjustment, we’re never too far away.
8. We are flexible about fitting
When you purchase a fitted kitchen from us there is no obligation to use one of our fitters (although they are excellent!). We are very happy to offer kitchens on a supply only basis if that’s what suits you or offer a full fitting service which includes trades such as plumbing, electrics and plastering.
How much or how little you need from us is completely up to you. Many of our customers find having one point of contact for all the fitting and associated trades makes life much easier as there is very little project management required from their side, removing some of the stress associated with having a new kitchen fitted.
9. You’ll have one point of contact from start to finish
From the very first meeting you have with us, to the final inspection we carry out on your new kitchen, you will have one point of contact at Kitchenroom. We offer total continuity, so there will be no need to explain who you are and your situation to yet another member of staff. We will always know exactly where things are at, and no customer query will ever slip between the cracks. We have complete oversight of your project and you’ll always know you are speaking to the same person.
10. Customer service is at the heart of everything we do
As a local company our reputation is the most important thing. Whether somebody has a good or bad experience with you, word spreads very quickly in a local area and so it’s vital we’re well thought of in the community. The vast majority of our business comes from word of mouth and recommendations so we want to make sure all our customers are as happy with our service and products as possible by going the extra mile. We also just really love helping people and bringing a smile to their faces, so we’ll do out utmost to deliver a great service that you’ll be happy and proud to tell all your friends and family about!
We think there are plenty of advantages to buying your kitchen from a local kitchen supplier, but if you’re still on the fence, why not see what some of our customers think:
“We had our new fitted kitchen supplied by Kitchenroom and what fantastic quality and service from start to finish. We looked around a few showrooms like Wren and Magnet, but never getting the right information or service we required. We decided to go on the web and found Kitchenroom, a local company.
Jason visited our house and explained the difference between a good quality kitchen and a bad one. We then looked at samples and viewed previous kitchen installs. Within 3 days we had a kitchen design, pictures, colour choices etc… the price was also very competitive and under our budget.
Compared to Wren and Magnet we had a great deal and I think they are both well over priced!!
Kitchenroom fitted our kitchen within 3 weeks, we thought buying a new kitchen would be hard but we were so wrong!
I would recommend Kitchenroom, Jason provides excellent service and good attention to detail. I bought a new BBQ with my spare cash!!”
BARRY D, OXFORD
“Jason came and had a good chat with us about our new kitchen plans, he helped us all the way through, two visits and some Kitchen designs and we had decided, using a local man helped us, we are over the moon with the end results thank you.”
ANGELA AND KEITH B, DIDCOT
“We had Kitchenroom to supply our kitchen in Abingdon and we couldn’t be happier, the quality of the units are excellent, they come ready made so you know it’s perfect when it arrives and the fact you can have colour matching carcasses adds a quality finish that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I would highly recommend Kitchenroom to anyone thinking of having a new Kitchen, also Jason was a delight to work with and nothing was too much trouble for him to get you exactly what you want, 10/10”
