Purchasing a new kitchen… What’s really involved?

Posted by: Admin Category: Kitchenroom

Imagine the scene; after much deliberating you’ve decided to take the plunge and purchase a new fitted kitchen. You’re excited; it’s going to look amazing; it’s going to transform the space; you’ve got a completely clean slate – you can choose any style/colour/layout you like; there are so many different ones to look at… actually, it’s all feeling a bit overwhelming now you mention it. You’re not sure where to start, or what styles you even like, and just how are you meant to know if you’ve picked the right suppliers or not?

There’s no doubt about it, these days when it comes to kitchens we are spoilt for choice. It’s a great problem to have but can lead to a severe case of kitchen overwhelm, where all the colours and styles begin to merge into one to the point where you can’t really remember what your vision was in the first place. This is where KItchenroom comes in.

We work with a wide selection of top-of-the-range kitchen manufacturers which means we are able to supply a fantastic variety of different kitchen styles, giving us oversight of the key trends and design features desired by customers. We are also very skilled at being able to help guide our customers through the various choices, helping them to narrow down exactly what they are looking for to design a kitchen that meets all their expectations and delivers on their vision.

How do we do this?

The first step in helping you achieve your dream kitchen is with a free home visit. During this visit we will sit down and talk to you about what you do and don’t want in your new kitchen. This is a real opportunity for us to talk about and narrow down your ideas for your kitchen. We can talk through all the different options and we will be able to explain the pros, cons and considerations of each of them.

We are currently using four different kitchen manufactures Multiwood, Burbidge, PWS and TKC who are all very well known within the kitchen industry. Click on any of our kitchen brochures to view their ranges, all of which we stock, and take in some beautiful kitchen inspiration.

If some of the different kitchen terms such as shaker, slab or quartz are a bit alien, then please don’t worry as we’ll also bring samples of different doors and worktops with us to help show you the difference between these varying styles and materials and help you get a feel for them. We’ll show you sample kitchen doors made of either MDF or solid wood (we do not supply vinyl wrapped kitchens, as they will not last the test of time), worktops also made of laminate, solid wood, quartz and granite.

The final thing we’ll do during your free home design visit is measure everything up to make sure we’ve got all the information we need to make a start on your new kitchen design. We cover a lot of ground during this visit, but you don’t need to set aside a lot of time, with the whole process only taking around 60 minutes for an average size kitchen.

What happens next?

Once we’ve carried out your home design visit and have a good idea of your vision we will create your free 3D design (picture) of your new kitchen. This will be sent to you via email and will be your first opportunity to see what your brand new kitchen could look like. This stage of kitchen design is very collaborative, so we’ll continue to exchange ideas of things that could be added or altered to create the kitchen of your dreams. Once you are 100 % completely satisfied with the final 3D design we will email you the fully listed and itemised quotation of the goods you wish us to supply. This could include the kitchen units, worktops, appliances etc. We are always more than happy to supply quotes for appliances, which are very competitive and often cheaper than our customers are able to obtain directly. However if you would rather source these yourself that is absolutely fine too.

Once you have had the opportunity to digest and understand your quote and are ready to go ahead with the purchase we will arrange a full survey. During this survey we will measure up again to ensure everything is ordered absolutely correctly. Once this is complete we will place the order for your new kitchen to be manufactured. The lead time is only 3 weeks for most of our kitchen ranges but we will be able to give you a more precise delivery date at this point.

How will my kitchen be delivered?

All our kitchen cabinets will be delivered assembled, so the kitchen doors will have already been fitted to make life a whole lot easier for the kitchen fitter when it comes to fitting your new kitchen.

Kitchenroom use a state of the art kitchen factory that manufactures over 100 kitchens per week or around 1200 kitchen cabinets per week.

We are very happy to provide your kitchen on a supply only basis, or can arrange a full fitting service for you. Our team can provide expert installation to renovate your new kitchen including the worktops, appliances, plastering, plumbing, electrics (first and second fix) and even knocking down the odd wall or two, or you can choose the supply only option.

The cost of fitting your kitchen will very much depend on the size and complexity of the project, including whether any structural work is required. As a rule of thumb to fit an average size kitchen from any of our range would cost around £1,500.00 to £1,800.00.
